About Us
The Association
The objects of the Association are:
- to rescue sick, injured or orphaned native wildlife unable to fend for itself and to transport rescued animals to a veterinary clinic, authorised carer or wildlife hospital; and
- to conduct such activities as necessary or desirable in support of the above.
Wildlife Rescue Inc. relies on the community and private individuals for financial support. All income is used to support the above objects.
The primary function of Wildlife Rescue Inc. is to provide a call centre service throughout NSW for the rescue of native animals. This service is provided free of charge to voluntary organisations engaged in such rescues.
In addition, a team of qualified WRI rescuers is being established for the Coffs Harbour region.
General and Annual General Meetings of the Association are held which all members may attend and at which members may propose and vote on issues. Members may also attend Committee meetings as observers, whilst members of the public are also welcome to attend General Meetings as observers.
Minutes of all meetings are made available to members following ratification. The Association’s financial accounts are independently audited annually and reported to the AGM, whilst monthly financial reports are emailed to all members.
One of the principles on which the Association was founded is the total opposition to euthanasia or culling of native animals in any form simply for economic reasons. The founding members regard the Association primarily as an animal welfare organisation.
