Membership of Wildlife Rescue Inc.

Requirements

    • Persons applying for membership of Wildlife Rescue Inc. must:
      • 1. be 18 years of age or over;
        2. have no criminal convictions, particularly relating to cruelty to animals; and
        3. be willing to meet the minimum requirements for involvement in the activities of the Association.

N.B. These requirements are negotiable, depending on individual circumstances.

Training

  • New members may be required to complete an introductory course in WRI phone procedures and the use of computer software.
  • Member involved in animal rescues are required to provide proficiency in the identification, handling and rescuing of animals (excl. snakes, goannas and bats).
  • Members wishing to be authorised to rescue snakes and goannas and/or bats are required to undergo appropriate training.
  • Recognition may be given for training completed in another organisation.
  • Training courses are to be conducted by suitably-qualified and experienced personnel.
  • There is no charge to members attending these courses.

Membership Support

  • Members and affiliates of Wildlife Rescue Inc. are insured for public liability and for personal accident insurance.
  • Phone calls made on behalf of Wildlife Rescue Inc. from home after office hours are reimbursed.
  • Financial assistance is available to rescuers who use their own vehicle during rescues.
  • Legal support can be provided, if required.

Membership Fees

  • Membership fees are currently $20 p.a. ($10 after 1st Jan), except for honorary members.
  • Where a number of members live at the same address, or where financial hardship can be demonstrated, the membership fee(s) may be reduced.
